Basf launches Poncho Votivo Precise, a seed treatment agent
Basf recently announced the launch of Poncho® Votivo® Precise (Clothianidin + Bacillus firmus I-1582), a chemical and biological combination of seed treatment agents, to protect soybean fields from multigenerational nematodes and other pests, helping to increase early-season crop vitality and maximize yield potential.
Nematodes are a major contributor to soybean production in the United States, costing growers about $1.5 billion annually. Poncho® Votivo® Precise seed treatment forms a biological barrier that grows with the root system to protect against many nematodes and promote plant growth. Promoting a crop's root growth and biomass at a critical stage of development is critical to increasing yield potential, and Poncho® Votivo® Precise seed treatment helps the crop get off to a good start.
Poncho® Votivo® Precise seed treatment agent also provides powerful, broad-spectrum control of ground and underground destructive insects and pests, enhancing the vitality of early season plants. Its active insecticide, Clothianidin, has immediate control effect on major early season pests such as aphids, corn seed maggot, bean leaf beetle, white grubs and grape colaspis.
In addition, nematode stress can exacerbate the effects of sudden soybean death syndrome (SDS). Therefore, it is critical to manage SDS and nematodes with Poncho® Votivo® Precise or ILEVO® seed treatment agents, depending on field pressure.
