'PU Tech Innovation Day' to Be Organised in Mumbai on September 28

Chemical Weekly 2018-07-09

The Indian Polyurethane Association (IPUA) is organising a ‘PU Tech Innovation Day’ on September 28, 2018 in Mumbai. The event will focus on the current state and future prospects of polyurethane innovations, industrial processes and technologies. The association has issued a Call for Papers to be presented at the event.

According to the IPUA, the aim of this innovation day is to provide a platform for industrialists, academics and associated personnel to identify and explore the challenges, opportunities and solutions that promote the use of polyurethane-based systems, wherever they can be used due to their versatile properties.

The IPUA invites the submission of abstracts (and eventually full papers) in all areas of polyurethane research, technology and applications. Possible topics to be discussed at the event include, amongst others:

• New findings in the areas of polyurethane coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers (CASE);

• Novel processing techniques in diversified areas of applications, such as new polyurethane composites, gradual advancement in techniques like reaction injection moulding (RIM), pultrusion etc.;

• New equipment or methods of using the existing polyurethane materials in a cost-effective manner; and

• Research findings in auxiliary areas such as new blowing agents, release agents for moulded PU foams etc.

Due to environmental concerns, the concepts of recycling, biodegradability and biocompatibility of polyurethanes have gained in importance recently. Innovations pertaining to these areas of PU research are also welcome, said IPUA.

As IPUA is a professional organisation, the subjects of papers should be techno-commercial in nature, said the association. The commercial viability of the innovations should also be considered and discussed in the presentations. Innovations that have taken place in India or new developments that can have a substantial effect on the Indian polyurethane industry are also of great importance for discussion, said IPUA.

The abstract (limited to 350 words) should be submitted by July 7, 2018.
