Henkel India Gets Sustainability Award
Henkel Adhesives Technologies India Pvt. Ltd., which offers adhesives, sealants and surface treatment products, was recently recognised for its sustainability performance at the 9th edition of ‘Sustainability 4.0 2018 Awards’ co-hosted by Frost & Sullivan and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) at Mumbai.
The company bagged the ‘Leaders Award’ under ‘Large Business – Process Sector’ category. The award was presented to Mr. Shilip Kumar, President, Henkel India and his team members.
The ‘Sustainability 4.0 Awards’ assessment model comprises four major parameters (4P Model) and 13 sub-parameters, recognising the efforts of frontrunners via a benchmarking process. The model also takes into consideration global sustainability frameworks and future requirements of reporting. The awards were presented to companies in three major categories: Leaders, Challengers and Believers.
Speaking about the award, Mr. Kumar, said, “This award is an acknowledgement of our steadfast resolve to improve our sustainability performance year-on-year through continual focus on our business practices. We are pleased to note that our performance on all 13 parameters was above the industry average. Our ambition is to achieve more with less. Our 20-year goal for 2030 (base year: 2010) is to triple the value we create for the footprint made by our operations, products and services. We call this ambition to become three times more efficient, Factor 3. Yearly targets are set and, more importantly, there is a year-on-year reduction target for water, waste and energy. Separate capital investments are earmarked for projects, in order to achieve the targets. During 2017, the average reduction for water, waste and energy at Henkel India was 8.21%”.
