Syngenta Canada launches Miravis®Star(Pydiflumetofene + Fludioxonil)

2024-05-08

Syngenta Canada has introduced Miravis®Star, a new fungicide that offers more efficient and flexible sclerotium control in canola.

Miravis®Star contains two proven active ingredients. The first is the bactericidal ingredient ADEPIDYN®, which has high efficiency and long-lasting absorption; The second is Fludioxonil, which is one of the best active ingredients for the prevention and control of sclerotium disease and can provide effective contact activity. The combination of ADEPIDYN® and fFludioxonilalso helps growers reduce the risk of resistance.

Jon Cressman, Head of fungicides and insecticides products at Syngenta Canada, said: "Yield is a key factor in deciding whether to use a scleria fungicide. Miravis®Star is designed for oilseed rape growers who are not satisfied with the current production situation and want to adopt new solutions and improve the quality of their crops. Miravis®Star showed consistent effectiveness even in conditions where sclerotium infestation was severe."

Syngenta point that the application of Miravis®Star significantly increases yields compared to untreated farmland. In a series of small-scale trials, Miravis®Star yielded 23.7% higher yields than unapplied fields at a standard dosage of 0.4 L/ac. Miravis®Star has an average advantage of 1.4 bu/ac compared to other sclerotium fungicides. Further field trials will be conducted in 2023 on farms across Western Canada. In addition to excellent yield benefits, Miravis®Star offers greater flexibility and can be used during periods of 10-50% flowering rate.

Carolyn Wilson, Head of Technology at Syngenta Canada, said: While other sclerotium fungicides are applied when flowering rates reach 20-50%, Miravis®Star has the significant advantage of allowing growers to start spraying earlier and protect more land, as adverse weather conditions and other factors can have an impact on when and where growers need to apply sclerotium fungicides.

Miravis®Star will be available in Western Canada for the 2024 planting season
