Arkema Increases UV Cureable Resin Production Capacity at Sartomar Nansha Plant

On October 26, Arkema announced that it has once again doubled its Sartomer® UV/LED resin production capacity at its Sartomer plant in Nansha, Guangzhou, China. This expansion will support Asia’s rapidly growing demand for cutting-edge solutions in the electronics and renewable energy fields, driven by 5G technology.

It is reported that in addition to adopting the latest processes and manufacturing standards, the Nansha factory also achieves carbon-neutral growth through energy efficiency plans, green power procurement and the installation of solar panels.

Richard Jenkins, Senior Vice President of Arkema Coating Solutions, said, “Doubling the production capacity of the Nansha plant will enable us to support the growth, innovation and regional supply of our customers in Asia. The growing demand for low-carbon solutions creates new opportunities for UV/LED curing technology, which is rapidly expanding to a wider range of substrates and applications.”

It is understood that this key project is part of Arkema Group’s strategy to expand its high-performance and sustainable materials product portfolio, which mainly includes UV/LED, powder, water-based and high-solids technologies.

Arkema's Sartomer Guangzhou factory is Sartomer's first special light-curing resin production plant in Asia. It was officially opened in March 2008. The factory covers an area of 80,000 square meters. Its main products include special (meth)acrylate monomers, oligomers, engineering resins, UV Cureable Resin and additives. It mainly supplies users throughout Asia. In 2011, Arkema incorporated Sartomer into the group, and in 2019, it increased Sartomer's UV Cureable Resin production capacity in China by 30%. In 2022, Sartomer received China's first batch of Guangdong Province's first RCEP policy certificate of origin. The implementation of the RCEP policy has promoted regional economic cooperation among countries in Asia, especially East Asia, by realizing two-way connectivity between imports and exports. The increase in Arkema's UV Cureable production capacity will also play a greater role in strengthening its downstream acrylic acid business in Asia. It also empowers Arkema to further develop its high-performance solvent-free UV curing solutions.
