In-Cosmetics Asia Awards Spotlight Skincare Innovations and Formulations
Skincare innovation took center stage at the recent in-cosmetics Asia Awards, recognizing outstanding achievements in both active and functional ingredient categories. The premier event for the cosmetic and personal care community in the Asia-Pacific region also honored excellence in the 'Sustainable, Conscious Beauty' and 'Love is in the Hair' categories through the Spotlight On Formulation Award.

Skincare ingredient innovations celebrated at the in-cosmetics Asia Awards
Held at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) from November 7 to 9, 2023, the event featured the expert judging panel presenting accolades for the Innovation Zone Best Active Ingredient, Innovation Zone Best Functional Ingredient, and the Spotlight On Awards.
Active Ingredient Award:
- Gold Award: Immunight by Lucas Meyer Cosmetics received recognition for its green-processed oil-soluble lavandin extract, designed to combat the effects of poor-quality sleep on the skin by enhancing nighttime skin recovery and improving sleep quality through olfactory compounds.
- Silver Award: Codif impressed with Regetaste, an anti-ageing epidermal ingredient enhancing skin texture and brightness.
- Bronze Award: Rahn AG earned recognition for Perfeline, a water-based extraction of Helichrysum italicum syn angustifolium, chlorogenic acid, and di-O-caffeoylquinic acids, aimed at strengthening micro-vessels in human skin.
Functional Ingredient Award:
- Gold Award: Gattefossé secured the top spot with Emulium Dermolea MB, a plant-based O/W emulsifier with a lipidic composition rich in sterols and triterpenes to reduce skin stress and provide long-term soothing.
- Silver Award: IOI Oleo's Softisan MagicPowder S impressed as a cold-processable transforming ingredient enabling simple powder-to-emulsion on-the-go formulas with a soft after-feel.
- Bronze Award: Elementis received recognition for Bentone Plus Glow, a natural ingredient blend promoting rheological control and suspension in cosmetics, enhancing the skin's barrier function.
Spotlight on Formulation Award:
- Sustainable, Conscious Beauty:
- Gold Award: SunCat JCW03 by BIO-NEST Biochemical Technology in Taiwan, recognized for innovative 5% UV Filters with SPF30, encapsulation technology, and particle aggregate prevention.
- Silver Award: Lotion with Neosolue-Aqulio by Nippon Fine Chemical in Japan.
- Bronze Award: BioSyn-Bisabolol by Soho Aneco Chemicals in China.
- Love is in the Hair (Haircare):
- Gold Award: Two winners—Burgeon-Up(HS) by Ichimaru Pharcos in Japan, addressing hair greying with anti-hair loss and anti-grey hair benefits, and Detox Scalp Butter Mask by Azelis, a multifunctional product praised for its trendy, user-friendly formula and texture.
With a total of 39 entries thoroughly evaluated by judges on the show floor, in-cosmetics Asia provided a dynamic platform for acknowledging exceptional formulations in the skincare industry. The awards underscore the commitment of these innovators to pushing the boundaries of skincare and haircare, offering solutions that resonate with the evolving needs and preferences of consumers.
