Bayer invested 130 million euros to build an innovative injection production base
BERLIN - Bayer has added a new manufacturing facility to its global supply chain network.
On November 23, 2023, Bayer's new manufacturing plant was officially completed in Berlin, Germany. The unveiling ceremony was co-hosted by Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner and Bayer board member and head of the pharmaceuticals division Stefan Oelrich. The facility features state-of-the-art technology and innovative production and automation processes, including a robot-controlled sterile filling production line that accelerates drug production and brings drugs to market and to patients faster. The completion of the plant is an important milestone in realizing Bayer's "global manufacturing strategy for liquid pharmaceutical dosage forms such as injections and infusions."
Stefan Orrich commented, "Germany and other regions in Europe pursue future-oriented innovation policies. Bayer has put into production and developed scientific research here to ensure future business development and at the same time strengthen the region's innovation capabilities."
The plant is located in Berlin, Germany, Bayer's global pharmaceutical center. It is an important production base and has now developed into a global "center of excellence for injectables." It plays a vital role in pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging, ensuring supply to the global market.

Bayer's advanced manufacturing sites utilize innovative platform technologies to produce a variety of injectable products. Digital processes ensure safe and fast pharmaceutical production, and automated filling lines based on artificial intelligence can greatly improve efficiency. The production base mainly serves high-demand medical fields such as ophthalmology and aims to efficiently supply the US, European and Chinese markets.
