 The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced that in order to ensure the quality and safety of agricultural products, human and animal safety and ecological environment safety, according to the opinions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and The State Council on Deepening Reform and Strengthening Food safety work, it was decided to ban four highly toxic pesticides such as Omethoate, Carbofuran, Methomyl and Aldicarb. The relevant matters are hereby announced as follows: 

 

1. As of June 1, 2024, the registration of formulations containing Omethoate, Carbofuran, Methomyl and Aldicarb shall be revoked, the production shall be prohibited, and the sale and use shall be prohibited from June 1, 2026.

 

2. Retain the production and export of the technical production enterprises, change the existing registration to only export registration, and implement closed operation supervision.

 

3. As raw materials for the production of Carbosulfan and Benfuracarb, Carbofuran can be supplied at a fixed point and operated in closed condition among the manufacturers of Carbosulfan and Benfuracarb. Methomyl, as the raw material for the production of Thiodicarb technical, can be supplied at a fixed point and run in closed condition between the manufacturers of Methomyl and Thiodicarb technical. The relevant provincial agricultural and rural departments are responsible for the verification and tracking supervision of transfer out and transfer in.
