UPL intends to strengthen its fungicide product line with the acquisition of Corteva's Mancozeb business,

On January 9, UPL Group announced that it plans to acquire the Mancozeb single-dose business of Corteva CropScience outside of China, Japan, Korea and European Union member states. The acquisition will give UPL ownership of Dithane®.

 

Mancozeb is a highly effective protective fungicide used to prevent plant diseases in a range of crops, including paddy, soybeans, wheat, Onions, potatoes, and other vegetables and fruits. In the entire plant protection industry, Mancozeb is increasingly becoming an important tool for managing fungicide resistance. UPL is a pioneer in this technology, having pioneered the introduction of Mancozeb in soybean production in 2014, and has played an important role in proving that it is highly effective in controlling fungal diseases, promoting growth and increasing yields

The acquisition is limited to Corteva’s Mancozeb single dose formulation, with Corteva retaining ownership of the blended formulation. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year. The acquisition includes all product data, registration information, trademarks, and technology licenses to Rainshield™ for Corteva's Mancozeb single dose products.
