AIBN? White crystalline solid, formula C₈H₁₂N₄. Azo group (–N=N–) gives it reactivity. Dissolves in organic solvents, not water. Heat breaks the azo bond, releases nitrogen gas, creates radicals. That's how it starts polymerization reactions.
