MGC expands Texas plant capacity
Mitsubishi Gas Chemical (MGC) has decided to expand the Texas facility of MGC Pure Chemicals America (MCPA), a consolidated subsidiary that produces and sells ultrapure hydrogen peroxide and ultrapure ammonium hydroxide used in semiconductor manufacturing processes.
With its ultrapure hydrogen peroxide and ultrapure ammonium hydroxide production bases in Japan and overseas, as well as its world-class analysis and quality assurance system, the group has successfully expanded its business and achieved the world's number one market share. MGC is also involved in other functional chemicals used in semiconductor manufacturing processes, all of which are in high demand from customers.
Ultrapure hydrogen peroxide and ultrapure ammonium hydroxide are mainly used as cleaners, etchants and abrasives in semiconductor wafer and device manufacturing processes. In recent years, semiconductors have become increasingly miniaturized and the demand for higher quality chemical solutions has grown. In the long term, the semiconductor market is likely to continue to grow as advances in IoT and artificial intelligence technologies expand the scope of semiconductor applications.
Against this background, MPCA, which has the largest supply capacity in North America, is facing growing demand from large customers, who are building state-of-the-art factories and need solutions to reduce supply risks and ensure a stable supply of high-quality products.
MPCA is currently expanding its Oregon plant in advance of the Texas plant expansion. By increasing North American production capacity in line with customer and market trends, MPCA will contribute to the further development of the semiconductor industry and strive to further develop into a leading company in electronic industrial chemicals that are integral to semiconductor manufacturing.
