PPG announces partnership with RightShip
PPG announced a collaboration with RightShip, a digital marine sustainability platform, as part of RightShip's Zero Harm Innovation Partner Program. The program is designed to foster the development and adoption of innovative solutions to advance the marine industry toward a more sustainable future.
PPG's SIGMAGLIDE 2390 biocide-free silicone antifouling agent is the only hull coating approved through RightShip’s rigorous Zero Harm Innovation Partner Program product review process. This approval demonstrates its contribution to the zero harm marine industry and highlights its positive impact on sustainability.
"By connecting manufacturers with shipowners and introducing new technologies to charterers, the RightShip Zero Harm Innovation Partner Program establishes a system that supports and recognizes those who invest in safety and sustainability onboard," said Christopher Saunders, RightShip chief marine officer.
"We are proud to be part of this program that recognizes the sustainable benefits of our biocide-free PPG Sigmaglide 2390 coating, as well as its improved efficiency and durability," said Ariana Psomas, PPG global segment director, newbuild and drydock, protective and marine coatings. "It helps ships achieve up to 20 percent instant energy savings, less than 1 percent speed loss, and helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 35 percent compared to conventional antifouling coatings."
