BASF expands its natural emulsifier range with Emulgade Verde
BASF’s Personal Care division has announced the expansion of its natural emulsifier portfolio with two new ingredients: Emulgade Verde 10 OL and Emulgade Verde 10 MS.
Emulgade Verde 10 OL is suitable for cold manufacturing processes, thus saving costs, time and energy. It can be used as a one-time emulsifier for spray emulsions, including sunscreen sprays. The second new addition to the portfolio is Emulgade Verde 10 MS, a flexible all-rounder.
These emulsifiers are part of BASF’s new Emulgade Verde emulsifier range, both based on 100% renewable raw materials, are readily biodegradable and are COSMOS and NATRUE certified. Emulgade Verde 10 OL and Emulgade Verde 10 MS can be classified as "natural ingredients" according to ISO 16128, as they have a Natural Origin Index (NOI) of 1. They are also suitable for vegan and cruelty-free formulations. According to BASF, their production complies with "many green chemistry principles".
BASF says the two Emulgade Verde emulsifiers were tested in occluded patch tests on volunteers with sensitive skin at concentrations in line with the recommended use concentrations. No reactions to the test formulations were observed. Further testing showed that they are also a good choice for microbiome-friendly concepts, as they help maintain the natural balance of the microbiome on healthy skin.
