OQ Chemicals Launches OxReduce L7-NPG: Bio-cycled Synthetic Lubricant Base Stock
OQ Chemicals, a leading global supplier of chemical solutions, has launched OxReduce L7-NPG, a new bio-cycled synthetic lubricant base stock that serves as a sustainable alternative to the fossil-based Oxlube L7-NPG. OxReduce L7-NPG is manufactured using a mass balance approach and complies with the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS standard. This innovative lubricant is made from sustainably sourced palm oil-free feedstocks and all its ingredients are fully traceable. Transparency is maintained throughout the manufacturing process, from the virgin bio-naphtha used in production to the final product.
OxReduce L7-NPG stands out for its high renewable carbon content, with up to 84% of the product coming from renewable sources. This makes it an ideal choice for manufacturers looking to reduce the product carbon footprint (PCF) of their lubricant formulations while maintaining high performance. The product blends environmental benefits without compromising on quality or efficacy. Its key features include low pour point, low viscosity and high flash point, making it a versatile and reliable choice for a wide range of applications.
As a non-toxic ester-based oil, OxReduce L7-NPG is particularly suitable for industries such as automotive, metalworking and energy-efficient cooling systems. It is also suitable for original equipment manufacturing (OEM) applications, which have a strong focus on reducing CO2 emissions and achieving sustainability goals. In addition, OxReduce L7-NPG is Vessel General Permit (VGP) compliant, which ensures that it has minimal ecological impact when used in marine environments.
Dr. Claudia Fischer, Global Business Development Director at OQ Chemicals, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting customers in their transition to sustainable solutions. By offering products such as OxReduce L7-NPG, OQ Chemicals helps customers reduce PCF while ensuring high product quality. This bio-balanced product also meets increasingly stringent regulatory requirements and growing consumer expectations for environmentally friendly products.
OxReduce L7-NPG expands OQ Chemicals’ product portfolio, complementing the existing OxLube L7-NPG, which is listed on the Lubricant Substance Classification (LuSC) list. The BioBalanced variant is also expected to be considered for inclusion on this list, potentially offering customers a path to EU Environmentally Friendly Lubricants (EAL) ecolabel certification. This certification is an important step for manufacturers looking to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability while adhering to strict environmental standards.
