Sika Acquires Qatari Construction Chemicals Company Gulf Additive Factory
Sika has acquired Qatar-based Gulf Additive Factory LLC. The company produces a wide range of construction chemicals and has a strong presence in the fast-growing Qatari construction market. The acquisition strengthens Sika’s foothold in Qatar and offers exciting opportunities for further expansion.
Gulf Additive Factory (GAF) is renowned for its high-quality solutions and deep technical expertise. Its production site near Doha is strategically located and produces a wide range of products, including concrete admixtures, mortars, flooring, waterproofing and facade systems.
GAF’s large, modern production site will provide Sika with opportunities to expand its business and drive growth in Qatar and surrounding countries. The combination of Sika’s existing product portfolio with locally produced additional products will position Sika well for the growing demand for energy-efficient “cold storage”. In addition, the possibility of consolidating operations into one production site will significantly improve cost efficiencies.
Qatar’s construction market is expected to grow at a CAGR of more than 4% by 2028. Growth will be driven by large-scale investments in the energy and utilities sectors, as well as major projects in transportation, healthcare, tourism and industrial manufacturing. This optimistic outlook is supported by Qatar National Vision 2030, whose main goal is to diversify the economy while focusing on social and environmental development.
Christoph Ganz, Regional Manager EMEA, said: "This acquisition will strengthen our local expertise and production footprint. This will provide us with a solid foundation to continue to drive growth and allow us to benefit from ambitious investment plans in the infrastructure and commercial construction sectors. We warmly welcome GAF employees to the Sika team and look forward to growing together."
