10 Companies Race for CCS Funding Baker Hughes and Evida Accelerate Denmark CO₂ Pipeline Rollout

ECHEMI 2025-07-16

Baker Hughes has signed a strategic partnership with Denmark’s gas transmission operator Evida to co-develop scalable CO₂ transport solutions, advancing Denmark’s carbon reduction ambitions. The agreement, inked in April, will combine Baker Hughes’ expertise in CO₂ process equipment with Evida’s extensive experience in safe, efficient pipeline operations.

The focus is on delivering robust, cost-effective CO₂ transport infrastructure connecting major emitters to storage sites, a crucial step for Denmark’s carbon capture and storage (CCS) ecosystem. Evida CO₂ is already preparing its first pipeline access projects, aligned with the rollout of national CCS initiatives.

Evida’s Henrik Jensen emphasized the strength of the collaboration, stating the partnership is well-positioned to enable more emitters to link up with Denmark’s growing CO₂ pipeline network. This infrastructure is designed to support end-to-end carbon management—from capture to storage.

The CCS push in Denmark is gaining momentum: the Danish Energy Agency recently shortlisted 10 companies for dedicated CCS funding, with final project proposals due by December 2025 and contract awards set for April 2026. The groundwork for large-scale CO₂ storage was laid by projects like the Greensand pilot, which saw its first North Sea injection in March 2023.
