September Ethyl Acetate Price Trends Fluctuate and Consolidate
On September 30, in the women's singles 1/16 match of the 2025 World Table Tennis Professional Alliance (WTT) China Grand Slam held in Beijing, Chinese player Sun Yingsha defeated her teammate Zhu Sibing 3-0, advancing to the top 16.Also on September 30, in the men's singles quarterfinals of the 2024 China Open, Chinese player Bubin Chaogete, who participated with a wildcard, defeated the No. 4 seed and Russian player Andrey Rublev 7-5, 6-4, advancing to the semifinals and setting the best record for a male player from the Chinese Tennis Association at the China Open.
According to the commodity market analysis system, as of September 30, the average production price of ethyl acetate stood at 5,390.00 CNY per ton, up by 26.67 CNY per ton compared to the beginning of the month, when it was 5,363.33 CNY per ton—representing an overall price increase of 0.50%. Meanwhile, raw material prices remained strong, providing favorable cost support. However, downstream demand remains weak, while inventory pressures on the supply side remain significant. As a result, market sentiment is characterized by cautious trading, leading to volatile and consolidating price movements for ethyl acetate.
Market Analysis: This month, the acetate ester market in China has been fluctuating. At the beginning of the month, the rise in raw material prices led to an increase in the price of ethyl acetate due to cost factors; subsequently, the demand side showed weakness, with downstream purchases mostly following actual needs, leading to an accumulation of inventory in enterprises, and the price of ethyl acetate adjusted downward; in the middle and late part of the month, as raw material prices continued to strengthen and pre-holiday inquiries increased, ethyl acetate manufacturers raised their quotes along with the raw material prices, but since demand had not yet improved, the overall price increase within the month was limited.
According to the Acetic Acid Market Analysis System, as of September 30, the price stood at 2,640.00 CNY/ton, representing an 8.64% increase compared to the beginning of the month, when acetic acid was priced at 2,430.00 CNY/ton. Acetic acid prices continue their upward trend, with ethyl acetate showing particularly strong growth momentum. Before the holiday period, downstream buyers have become more active in entering the market to secure supplies, while on the supply side, acetic acid inventories continue to decline. This has led to a generally bullish market sentiment, driving acetic acid prices sharply higher.
Looking ahead, the recent increase in ethyl acetate capacity utilization has led to significant inventory pressure on the supply side. Meanwhile, downstream buyers remain cautious ahead of the holiday season, resulting in limited market activity and subdued trading volumes. As a result, the market continues to show a strong supply position coupled with weak demand. However, raw material prices remain well-supported, and there’s growing optimism that downstream restocking will pick up after the holidays. Overall, ethyl acetate prices are expected to edge slightly higher in October—key factors to watch include changes in supplier production capacities and how downstream sectors respond in the coming weeks.
