The prices of chemical producers in the EU and the Eurozone continued to rise in May

According to news from the ICIS website on July 2, Eurostat said on Friday that chemical prices continued to rise in May, with producer prices in the EU and the Eurozone rising by 2.6% over the previous month.

The growth in May has eased from the first two months, but with the easing of COVID-19 lockdown measures, the momentum that began in the middle of last year is still continuing.

Manufacturing in the Eurozone and the United Kingdom are currently at their highest levels in decades, as the relaxation of the blockade has stimulated demand, and rising inflation is also a factor, although the situation eased slightly in June.

Chemical production prices in the Eurozone and the European Union rose 19.1% year-on-year in May, reflecting the impact of the epidemic at this time last year.

The Eurozone and EU industrial producer prices rose by 1.3% and 1.4% respectively in May.

Compared with the same period last year, these two indicators have both increased by 9.6%.
