Kemira to Expand Paper and Board Chemicals Capacity in Thailand
Kemira will invest millions of Euros to expand several strength chemical production lines for paper, board and tissue at its Wellgrow mill in Thailand. The expansion project will start in 2026.
The new capacity is expected to be operational in August 2026. Kemira is a leading producer and supplier of pulp, paper and board chemicals in the Asia Pacific (APAC) market and this investment will serve the expanding markets in Southeast Asia and India.
Kemira’s new advanced strength technology reduces water usage, improves material efficiency and increases strength. The technology helps customers increase productivity when replacing older technologies while reducing environmental impact.
Harri Eronen, Executive Vice President of Kemira Packaging & Hygiene Solutions, said: "To further strengthen our leading position in the Asia Pacific region, we are expanding our production in Thailand to facilitate future growth. The Asian pulp and paper market is one of the fastest growing in the world and this investment will enhance our ability to serve our customers with cutting-edge, sustainable chemical technologies."
The Wellgrow plant is located close to Bangkok Airport and Bangkok Port and is expected to have a total annual production capacity of approximately 100,000 tons after expansion. The plant's operations are supported by Kemira's global and regional team of experts with strong research and innovation capabilities.
