I. Price Trends

According to the commodity market analysis system, isopropanol prices in China fell in February. The average price of isopropanol in China was 5,733.33 CNY/ton on February 1st and 5,625 CNY/ton on February 27th, a decrease of 1.89% compared to the beginning of the month.

In February, the isopropyl alcohol market prices declined. In the first ten days of the month, the isopropyl alcohol market prices first increased and then decreased, with terminal demand being weak and mainly driven by demand. During the middle of the month, which coincided with the Spring Festival holiday, the market remained stable. In the latter part of the month, the Chinese isopropyl alcohol market maintained a range-bound fluctuation. As of now, most quotations for isopropyl alcohol in Shandong region are around 5,500 to 5,700 CNY per ton; in Jiangsu region, most quotations are around 5,600 to 5,900 CNY per ton.

In terms of raw material acetone, the acetone market price in China decreased in February. The average price of acetone on February 1st was 4,812.5 CNY/ton, and by February 27th, it had dropped to 4,625 CNY/ton, a decrease of 3.9%. Currently, the acetone market is expected to mainly fluctuate within a range in the short term, with many in the market adopting a wait-and-see attitude.

Regarding propylene raw materials, China's propylene market prices rose in February. On February 1, the average market price was 6,404.33 CNY per ton, and by February 27, the average price had risen to 6,467.67 CNY per ton, representing a price increase of 0.99%. Currently, the market sentiment remains largely one of wait-and-see, with prices stabilizing but leaning toward a weaker trend.

III. Future Market Forecast

The isopropyl alcohol analyst at the Chemical Division believes that the market price of isopropyl alcohol declined in February. Currently, inventory holders remain relatively optimistic, and downstream demand is gradually recovering. It is expected that, in the short term, the isopropyl alcohol market will remain stable, so it’s important to closely monitor trends in the raw material market.
