Haikou Geographic Indicator is the first agricultural product in the province.

On the morning of April 14, the training course of "Regional Brand Trademark Registration" of Hainan Province opened in Haikou in 2019. Chen Wentong, deputy director of the State Trademark Bureau, pointed out in the training course that geographical indications are the intellectual property rights most closely related to "agriculture, countryside and farmers". Hainan Province has abundant geographical indications resources and enjoys the support of national policies. It is helpful to strengthen the registration and protection of regional brand trademarks. To better implement the strategy of Rural Revitalization and poverty alleviation in Hainan. Up to now, the total number of geographical indications products in Hainan Province is 80, of which 12 are in Haikou City, ranking first in the province. On April 13, the second Haikou Volcano Litchi Month and the first Volcanic Dendrobium Festival opened. As a regional brand created by Haikou in recent years, the popularity of volcanic litchi and volcanic Dendrobium has been increasing. Many farmers have been growing and living a happy life because of planting this product. 

Haikou Yongxing Town Litchi Nongfu first told reporters that there are nearly 70,000 mu of Litchi in the whole Yongxing area nowadays, and everybody's life is booming because of the litchi, hoping that the litchi planted by oneself can be sold to all parts of the world.

Haikou Vice Mayor Long Weidong said that regional brand is a local business card, especially geographical indication trademark, carrying unique geographical and cultural characteristics, is an important intellectual property. Haikou City, as the capital city of Hainan Province, is also a big agricultural city. It has abundant characteristic agricultural resources and unique advantages. At present, there are 7832 well-known trademarks concerning agriculture in our city, including 5 well-known trademarks in China, 26 well-known trademarks in Hainan Province and 18 well-known agricultural products. The holdings of well-known agricultural brands account for about 40% of the province. A total of 126 agricultural products were obtained, including 95 non-pollution agricultural products, 19 green food products and 12 geographical indications agricultural products. On the afternoon of April 14, the reporter came to Renli Village, located in the northwest of Xinpo Town, Longhua District, Haikou City. Because of its unique volcanic terrain and landform, Renli Village has the natural advantages of developing characteristic industries, such as Dendrobium, Black Goat and Honey. Each agricultural product with local characteristics has been created a regional brand, and the continuous improvement of income level has brought happy days to farmers.

"After I graduated from Haikou, I chose to work in Dendrobium cooperative in my hometown because I saw the flourishing development of Dendrobium industry in my hometown." Mike Xiaoli, a villager, told reporters, "Now my monthly income has stabilized at around 3000 yuan, and I work with other small partners returning home to make these Stony Mountains everywhere in my hometown become the golden and silver mountains of wealth." The person in charge of Renli Village introduced that last year, the e-commerce platform was formally stationed in the village and took the lead in implementing two innovative poverty alleviation modes of "social e-commerce + precision poverty alleviation" and "rural e-commerce tourism" in the province. In April of the same year, Renli Village set up the "Three Supporting Agricultural Cooperatives" of "Supporting Intelligence, Supporting Zhi and Supporting Industry", and established the Tanfengyang Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., which is owned by the whole people. The villagers embarked on the road of intensive and large-scale development.

The responsible person of Haikou Agricultural and Rural Bureau said that in recent years, Haikou has been accelerating the pace of industrial adjustment, strengthening the building of agricultural brands, intensifying rural reform, accelerating the process of agricultural modernization, and striving to improve the overall efficiency and competitiveness of agriculture. Examples like Renli Village are gradually increasing, under the guidance of relevant departments, in combination with local geographical conditions, because of the village. Haikou is stepping out of the path of developing tropical and efficient urban agriculture with local characteristics.
