On March 8, the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) publicly sought comments on the Amendment Sheet No. 1 (Draft for Comments) to the Mandatory National Standard on Restrictions on Excessive Packaging of Commodities Food and Cosmetics (GB 23350-2021).

The Amendment Sheet focuses on restricting excessive packaging of mooncakes and dumplings. The draft requires that, in terms of the number of layers of packaging, grains and their processed products, mooncakes and dumplings should not exceed three layers, and other commodities should not exceed four layers.

In terms of packaging costs, production organisations should take measures to control the cost of all packaging, except for packaging that comes into direct contact with the contents, to not exceed 20% of the product's sales price; packaging for mooncakes and dumplings should not use precious metals, mahogany and other valuable materials. The draft consultation paper adds the requirement of mixed packaging, mooncakes should not be mixed with other commodities and zongzi should not be mixed with commodities exceeding their value.

　　On March 2, Guangzhou Jiwang Food Co., Ltd. was fined 123,000 yuan for using the name of "Guangye Group" in its product promotion, which was not authorised by Guangye Group. The company was fined 123,000 yuan.

　　The company's "Cha Yan Guan Xi" was enforced for infringement

　　On 8 March, the President of the Supreme People's Court, Zhou Qiang, introduced the main work for 2021 at the Fifth Session of the 13th National People's Congress, stating that the case of "Cha Yan Yuet Si" milk tea v.
