Countdown to Thailand's crushing season: total granulated sugar production 9.6 million tonnes
According to a report on March 22nd by Thai China, the Thai Three Sugar Federation announced that the 2021/2022 season will end at the end of this month, with a total of 87.75 million tons of sugar cane purchased and 96.07 million bags of sugar produced. So far 16 sugar mills have suspended cane purchases.
Thailand's 2021/2022 crushing season began on December 7, 2021 and lasted 104 days until March 22, 2021. 57 sugar mills in Thailand have received a total of 87.75 million tonnes of sugar cane, of which 64.75 million tonnes (73.79%) is fresh cane and 23 million tonnes (26.21%) is burnt cane.

Total sugar production is expected to be at 9.6 million tonnes, which is approximately 109.48 kilograms of granulated sugar per tonne of cane. The median sweetness is at 12.70ssl.
Looking ahead to the 2022/2023 crushing season, the Three Sugar Federation of Thailand hopes to continue to implement its plan to reduce the production of burnt cane, with a target of ensuring that no more than 10% of burnt cane is acquired each day.
Due to problems with the quality of the cane this year, the amount of industry losses due to equipment is expected to be no less than 10 billion baht for all 57 sugar mills in Thailand.
