The new era of food additive interpretationclearly tells people that food additives are a kind of products that areallowed to be used at home and abroad, and it is only illegal when used inexcess and abused in excess.
Food additives are synthetic or naturalsubstances added to food to improve the quality, color, flavor and taste of thefood, as well as for the preservation of corrosion, freshness and processingneeds. Food additives can be produced using chemical synthesis, biologicalfermentation or natural extraction methods. The number of approved foodadditives worldwide is about 15,000, China is currently approved to use morethan 2,300 kinds of food additives, according to the function of 22 categories,common antioxidants, bulking agents, coloring agents, preservatives,sweeteners, food flavors and so on.
The history of human use of food additivesand the history of human civilization as long. The history of the use of foodadditives in China can be traced back to 6,000 years ago in the Dawenkouculture, when the yeast used in brewing (sucrase) is a food additive, belongsto the food enzyme preparations; 2000 years ago has begun to use"brine" point tofu, brine is a food additive, belongs to the foodcoagulant.
Back then, the focus on food additives isconcerned about the way they are used, which led to public concern about foodsafety; the current focus on food additives is concerned about the nature ofthe product; the future of food additives will achieve from compliance to thescientific use of the upgrade, which will lead to the further improvement offood quality, which is also an opportunity for the Chinese food industry to furthermodernize.
