Since July, the price of eggs has increased significantly. The reporter learned that in less than a month, the wholesale price of eggs in Nanjing market has increased by about one yuan per kilogram.

In Shanghai Road vegetable market, the price of "foreign eggs" is 5.5-5.8 yuan per kilogram for ordinary farmed eggs and 9-10 yuan for gray eggs. Asked about the rise in the price of eggs, the vendors said that the price of eggs had been rising for more than two months, and now the market is full of this price. Wholesalers in Nanjing Zhongcai Wholesale Market for Agricultural and Byproducts also confirmed that in less than a month, the wholesale price of eggs rose from less than 4 yuan per catty to about 5 yuan per catty.

Is the current trend of egg price rising normal? Zhang Ke, a colorful worker, said that when the weather was too hot and too cold, hens would produce fewer eggs, so the price of eggs would rise in summer and winter. However, the price of eggs is really high this year. A wholesaler in Zhongcai recalled that the wholesale price of eggs was about 4.5 yuan this time last year. According to industry analysis, the main reason for the rise in egg prices this year is the low stock of laying hens in hen farms and the insufficient supply of eggs. Several experienced vendors and wholesalers have predicted that in the Mid-Autumn festival, traditional foods such as moon cakes need a lot of eggs, and the price of eggs will continue to rise.

A bakery seller near Xinglong Street Metro Station said that he hoped the price of eggs would come down as soon as possible. "Every day we come and go are acquaintances, and we are embarrassed to raise the price. The cost of a bakery rose by a few cents, and then it could not be stopped."
