Biesterfeld to Distribute LERG's Polyester Resins
Biesterfeld Spezialchemie GmbH has assumed responsibility for the distribution of unsaturated polyester resins (UP resins) from Polish company LERG SA. Through this cooperation, the distributor is expanding its range for the manufacturing of composite materials for the German market.
Marketed under the trade name Estromal, the UP resins are suited to a wide range of applications and provide an essential matrix for fibre-reinforced plastics in industries such as boat building, automotive, transport and wind energy.
The portfolio comprises standard resins based on ortho-phthalic and Terephthalic Acid as well as a variety of resins derived from isophthalic acid/Neopentyl Glycol (ISO/NPG) and Dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) for the manufacturing of high-quality composites. The types of Estromal available are characterised for example by very good mechanical properties, high heat distortion resistance and short post-curing times.
"With LERG's outstanding expertise in UP resins and Biesterfeld's knowledge of composites applications, we are making optimum use of synergies for our customers," said Dr Johannes Martin, responsible for Estromal at Biesterfeld Spezialchemie.
"With its more than 110 years' distribution experience, Biesterfeld is a perfect partner for us. We are looking forward to successful collaboration with Biesterfeld as one of the leading international distributors of speciality chemical products and solutions worldwide," added Mariola Szczech, sales director at LERG Company.
