It has learned from the China Steel Association that He Wenbo, the party secretary and executive vice president of the China Iron and Steel Industry Association, said that since the beginning of this year, steel production has been increasing rapidly, driven by domestic demand. According to statistics, steel production increased by 55.51 million tons in the first eight months and net exports decreased by 952,000 tons, which means that the increments are used to meet domestic steel demand, of which 2/3 meet the increment of demand in the construction field. At the same time, demand support is still sustainable.

According to the data, from January to August this year, the output of crude steel in China was 665 million tons, an increase of 9.1% over the same period last year. Among them, the output of crude steel in member enterprises of Steel Association increased by 5.91% and that of non-member enterprises increased by 19.38%, and that of non-member enterprises was much higher than that of member enterprises. The overall steel price showed a downward trend. From January to August, the CSPI steel average composite price index was 108.89 points, down 6.13 points, down 5.33% year on year.

He Wenbo, speaking at the nineteenth China Iron and steel raw materials international symposium, said that the economic performance of the whole industry showed a downward trend due to the fall in steel prices and the increase in raw material prices. In 1-8 months, the sales profit rate of member iron and steel enterprises was only 4.88%, down 2.66 percentage points from the same period last year.

He Wenbo said that the central government of China, in the face of the complex international political and economic environment and the downward pressure of the economy, continues to maintain the general keynote of steady progress, adopts counter cyclical regulation and control, and has promulgated a series of policies and continuously intensified its implementation, including positive fiscal policies, efforts to improve efficiency, prudent monetary policy flexibility, and the policy of giving priority to employment. Policy effects have emerged one after another. Although the downward pressure on the economy is still there, we are confident of achieving the established growth target. In particular, there is still a lot of space for China to expand its infrastructure and make up for the shortage of infrastructure. In the coming period, especially the capital construction will still maintain considerable strength. China's steel industry will still have great potential to meet the needs of national economic development.
