On October 15, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region held a press conference in Nanning to stabilize pig production and guarantee market supply. Liu Jun, director of the Agricultural Office of the Party committee of the autonomous region and director of the Department of agriculture and rural areas, said that he would adhere to the "two hands grasping and two promotion" principle of prevention and control of swine fever in Africa and recovery of pig production, take multiple measures to stabilize pig production and strive to ensure the supply of pig market. Since April 2019, affected by African swine fever and "pig cycle", Guangxi's pig production has been impacted, and pig production capacity has continued to decline.

According to statistics, by the end of September 2019, the number of live pigs in Guangxi was 15.27 million, a decrease of 34%. Among them, 1.783 million can breed sows, a decrease of 32%; 21.326 million in the first three quarters, a decrease of 17.3%. The pig industry is the pillar industry of agriculture and rural economy in Guangxi, and pork is the most important meat food for Guangxi residents. The stability of pig production and the guarantee of market supply are closely related to the overall situation of the development of "agriculture, rural areas and farmers", people's life and economic and social development. In order to speed up the stabilization and recovery of pig production, promote transformation and upgrading, and enhance the ability of pork supply guarantee, the autonomous region adheres to both pig production and African swine fever control. Since this year, the finance of the autonomous region has raised a total of 658 million yuan to implement the relevant policies and measures of the central government and the autonomous region for the prevention and control of African swine fever and other animal diseases, as well as various supporting policies to support the restoration of pig production. Through promoting the "vegetable basket" Mayor responsibility system, implementing various supporting policies, strengthening technical guidance, actively docking with large pig enterprises to promote the project implementation, doing a good job in pig production monitoring, increasing publicity and other measures to stabilize pig production, ensure market supply, and maintain economic and social stability.

Up to now, the downward trend of pig production has been basically curbed. According to statistics, at the end of September, the number of live pigs in the stock increased by 4.3% on a month on month basis, among which the number of fertile sows increased by 3.6% on a month on month basis. In the first three quarters of 2019, 10.2508 million pigs were slaughtered in the whole region, a year-on-year decrease of 10.14%. The supply of live pigs can basically meet the market demand. In the next step, Guangxi will continue to increase its efforts to solve five problems, including "dare not raise", "don't want to raise", "can't raise", "who will raise" and "how to raise": first, continue to strengthen technical support, summarize and promote the successful mode of restoring pig production, and strive to solve the problem of "dare not raise" for producers. Second, we should implement various supporting policies, fully mobilize the enthusiasm of producers, and strive to solve the problem that producers do not want to support. Third, we will increase financial and insurance policy support and focus on solving the problem that producers cannot afford to support. Fourth, we should increase investment attraction, cultivate new business entities, and focus on solving the problem of "who will support". Fifth, we will vigorously develop standardized large-scale aquaculture and strive to solve the problem of "how to raise". Strive to stabilize pig production and promote industrial transformation and upgrading.
