The proportion of optical fiber and 4G in administrative villages in China
The new office held a press conference on the development of industrial communication industry in the first three quarters of 2019. The reporter of "daily economic news" learned on the spot that China's rural broadband network construction has achieved phased results, and the digital gap between urban and rural areas has been narrowing. At the press conference, Wen Ku, director of the information and Communication Development Department of the Ministry of industry and information technology and spokesperson, pointed out that the level of rural broadband network and information service related to agriculture is related to the happiness and sense of access of hundreds of millions of people to share the achievements of Internet development, which is very important. Under the decision-making and deployment of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, since 2015, the Ministry of industry and information technology, together with the Ministry of finance, has carried out in-depth universal telecommunication services. This project has supported the construction of 130000 administrative villages' optical fiber networks, as well as the construction of 37000 4G base stations in rural and remote areas. Further more, Wenku said that three basic telecommunication enterprises, as well as radio and television, have actively improved the overall situation awareness. With the support and cooperation of local governments, many difficulties have been overcome in places with large investment and low income, even losing money and no income. "At present, the proportion of optical fiber and 4G in our country's administrative villages has exceeded 98%. 98% is also the number that we promised to give to the people by 2020. At present, we have reached this number and completed the national 13th five year plan in advance." In addition, Wenku further introduces that the general service of telecommunications supports the completion of 4G base stations in six islands in Sansha City, Hainan Province. "We just held the opening ceremony. After this opening, all the manned islands in Hainan are covered by 4G base stations. Some of our islands have started to try 5g. For example, there are three 5g base stations on Yongxing island. I have also measured the speed, which is very fast, so the urban and rural network speeds are the same, reducing the digital divide.
