Fire Breaks out at PetroChina Dalian's RFCC Unit

China TexNet 2017-08-21

A fire broke out on Thursday at state oil major PetroChina’s 1.4 million mt/year residue catalytic cracker in Dalian, Liaoning province. No casualties have been reported so far.

The refinery, owned by PetroChina Dalian Petrochemical Corp, has three crude distillation units with total processing capacity of 410,000 barrels per day of crude oil. Catalytic crackers typically produce gasoline.

The plant’s crude processing operations were not affected, although there may be a small reduction in output at the gas separation unit as a result of the incident, a refinery source said.

Dalian Petrochemical also runs an aromatics plant in this site, which can produce 290kt/year of benzene, 352kt/year toluene and 440kt/year of mixed xylenes. The plant runs normally and is not affected as well.
