LG life health sold 183.25 billion won in the second quarter

The increase of the turnover of cosmetics sector by KRW 155.4 billion led to the increase of the overall turnover by KRW 183.25 billion in the second quarter of LG's life and health, 10.9% higher than the same period last year (KRW 165.26 billion). According to LG life health's semi annual financial report in 2019, LG life health's sales volume in the second quarter was 183.25 billion won, down 2.3% from the previous quarter (187.48 billion won), and up 10.9% from the same period last year (165.26 billion won). In the second quarter, the turnover of the beverage sector increased by 46.5 billion won, while that of the household goods sector and the cosmetics sector decreased by 58.1 billion won and 30.7 billion won respectively, resulting in an overall decrease of 42.3 billion won compared with the previous quarter. Compared with the same period last year, the sales volume of cosmetics department increased by 155.4 billion won, which led to an increase of 179.9 billion won in total business volume. In the part of accumulated turnover in the first half of the year, the cosmetics department and beverage department increased by 347.4 billion won and 35.2 billion won respectively, which contributed to a year-on-year increase of 395.5 billion won.
In the second quarter, the operating profit was 301.5 billion won, and the beverage department increased by 15 billion won. However, the daily necessities department and the cosmetics department decreased by 15.2 billion won and 20.4 billion won respectively, resulting in a decrease of 20.6 billion won in the total operating profit compared with the previous quarter. Compared with the same period last year, the operating profit of the cosmetics sector increased by KRW 31.6 billion, which increased the total operating profit by KRW 34.2 billion. In the part of net profit in the second quarter, the Korean legal person of LG, a holding company, fell by 18.4 billion won, down by 14.2 billion won compared with the previous quarter. Compared with the same period last year, the holding company increased by 32.2 billion won, and the total net profit increased by 24.1 billion won. In the part of accumulated net profit, the holding enterprises decreased by 17.9 billion won, and the affiliated enterprises increased by 71.4 billion won, an increase of 53.5 billion won over the same period last year. In the second quarter, the sales management fee was 832.4 billion won, down slightly from the previous quarter; compared with the same period of last year, the service fee and salary and welfare fee increased by 62.4 billion won and 40.7 billion won respectively, an overall increase of 243.4 billion won.
