Qatar Energy and Shell collaborate on North Field East expansion project
Qatar Energy has selected Shell as the partner for the North Field East expansion project in Qatar, the largest project in the history of the LNG sector. Shell will hold a 25% stake in a joint venture that will own a 25% stake in the North Field East expansion project, including four large LNG trains, with a combined LNG capacity of 32 million tonnes/year.
Shell's investment in this LNG expansion will support the supply of much-needed gas to global markets. The project will also be integrated with carbon capture and storage to reduce emissions.

We are committed to maximising the role of executive and I am honoured that Shell has been selected by Qatar Energy. Through its partnership with carbon capture and storage Pioneering integration, this landmark project will help provide the world with much-needed LNG with a lower carbon footprint. Low-carbon natural gas is a key pillar of our strategy to drive energy progress and will help us reach 2050 The goal of becoming a net-zero emission company in 2019.
