China's first RNA pesticide started registration process

2022-08-10

Founded in 2017 by Professor Tang Xueming from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Gui Yi Tech is the first high-tech enterprise of RNA nucleic acid biopesticide in China. The company has developed a series of key technologies and industrialization platforms with independent intellectual property rights from R&D to production, like the key target gene library of more than 100 kinds of diseases and insect pests.

Gui Yi Tech has obtained the first four RNA biopesticides - "nucleic acid interferon" naming letters issued in China. Among them, the first tobacco mosaic virus nucleic acid interferon SG-RNA001 has been officially entered into the field trials for pesticide registration. Insecticides and seed coating agents are also being applied for one after another, and more than 10 product pipelines have been established.

"The company will formulate the best synthesis method according to the specific RNA product. Gui Yi has mastered the ability to synthesize RNA in a variety of microorganisms and chassis cells. At the same time, it has developed the key enzymes for cell-free RNA synthesis, which can realize the large-scale production of target RNA."

Regarding Gui Yi 's RNA synthesis technology, Tang Xueming introduced, "First of all, the RNA prepared by Gui Yi is of high enough purity, and can realize rapid research and development of RNA, shortening the research and development cycle; it can respond faster to difficult-to-treat and difficult-to-prevent pests and diseases."
