Sustainability is still the trend of cosmetic packaging

ECHEMI 2020-01-17

Creative ideas that need to get rid of inherent concepts "the most popular trend of packaging industry is circular economy"; on January 7, at the conference introducing the regulation of various countries, the situation of South Korea and the current situation of enterprises, Kim seungjung, vice president of South Korea beauty industry trade Association, made the above speech on the topic of "sustainable packaging trend". From 1980s to 1990s, "sustainable packaging trends" started from environmental movements such as reduce, reuse and recycle, and is gradually changing to the response strategies and strengthening regulations of the United Nations and other countries. The millennium development goals put forward by the United Nations from 2000 to 2015 has come to an end, and then the sustainable development goals from 2016 to 2030 has been set as the new largest common goal. The European Union plans to enact a law to recycle 75% of packaging waste by 2030, and the United States and Canada plan to achieve the goal of 100% recycling by 2040. On December 25 last year, South Korea also revised the implementation rules of resource reuse of the Ministry of environment, and established the producer responsibility reuse system (EPR) through the evaluation of packaging material and structure. Kim seungjung, vice president of nbspkim, said that according to packaging digest 2018, the survey of environmental concerns showed that 69% of the total score of 10 believed that more than 7 points accounted for, and more than 90% of the respondents believed that environmental problems would become more and more serious, especially the marine environmental problems, the second thought that low recovery rate, reclamation and other problems were more serious.

The industry is also concerned about the formulation of countermeasures. Brands also embrace sustainable packaging, strive to reduce disposable plastics, recycle and replace packaging. According to the report of zero waste week, the cosmetics industry produces 120 billion bags in the world every year. Enterprises have also begun to use bioplastics, aluminum glass and other materials. Unilever, the body shop and other containers recovered through the trial operation of terracycle and loop (circular shopping platform) in Paris.L'Oreal has also developed paper cosmetic hose for the first time, which will be put into use in 2020. Amorepacific has signed an empty bottle recycling business agreement with terracycle. It plans to reuse at least 100 tons of empty plastic bottles every year in the next three years, and achieve the goal of 100% empty bottle recycling by 2025. Vice President Kim stressed that although South Korea's Amori and terracycle signed a business cooperation agreement on recycling empty bottles, the focus on recycling is increasing, but more enterprises are needed to participate. 42% of the respondents think that "bioplastics are helpful to the actual environment", 74% of the respondents think that "only the improvement of plastic materials", there is a considerable gap. According to the survey, 78% of consumers think that the recycling rate should be improved, and 58% of respondents think that consumers should use recycled materials at the same time. Although bio based is considered to be biodegradable, only part of it can be degraded in the sea. According to vice president Jin, "about bioplastics, it is popular to make decomposable packaging materials by decomposing sweet potatoes, corn, soybeans and sugarcane into substrates, but the materials decomposing from soil and ocean are different, so perfect analysis is needed."
