Technip FMC acquires sol based epichlorohydrin Technology

ECHEMI 2020-04-07

According to reports, Paris based engineering and construction company Technip fmc3 announced on 27th that it had acquired Solvay's epicerol bio based epichlorohydrin (ECH) process technology. The technology can transform glycerin into high-purity epichlorohydrin and be used in coatings, composites, adhesives and other industries. Compared with the traditional technology of producing epichlorohydrin (ECH) from propylene raw materials, epicerol technology has many advantages, including the optimization and integration of vinyl production raw materials and recovery facilities, so as to reduce the consumption of energy, water and chlorine, and reduce the chlorination by-products. The technology is developed by Solvay and has been implemented and operated in plants in Europe and Asia, with a production capacity of 100000 tons / year. Technip FMC operation center, located in Lyon, France, is the company's polyolefin, chemical, petrochemical and bio based product technology center, which will issue epicerol technology license to the outside world.
