Titanium Dioxide Market Inched Down in Nov 2017

ECHEMI 2017-12-01

The Chinese rutile titanium dioxide market turned weak in November 2017. In H1 November, the market entered the off-season and the buying interest was low. But considering the modest inventory and the ChinaCoat in mid-November, players held stable offers. In H2 November, the bearish sentiments were thick in the market. Titanium dioxide producers’ inventory increased gradually and the prices started to inch down. The mainstream negotiation prices moved down. Up to November 30, the mainstream negotiation prices for rutile titanium dioxide were in the range of RMB 15,800-17,800/mt, down RMB 250/mt from last month.

The anatase TITANIUM dioxide got weak. On the one hand, the downstream demand for Titanium Dioxide was tepid, and producers saw sales pressure. On the other hand, the Rutile Titanium Dioxide went down, which pressured the anatase titanium dioxide market. Up to November 30, the reference prices were in the range of RMB 14,000-14,600/mt.

Forecast:

In the short term, the prices of raw materials will remain largely stable, which cannot support the production cost of titanium dioxide. As for the demand, it may become weaker. Most players are bearish about the coming market. It is predicted that the titanium dioxide market will fluctuate downwards. Prices may decline by RMB 500/mt.
