The full name is avian influenza virus infection, which is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by certain subtypes of avian influenza A virus. The severity of the disease varies. In severe cases, it can cause sepsis, shock, multiple organ failure, Reye syndrome and other complications, leading to death. The new "Law of the People's Republic of my country on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases" implemented on December 1, 2004 has classified human infection with highly pathogenic avian influenza as a Class B infectious disease for management, and stipulates that it should be treated in accordance with the preventive measures for Class A infectious diseases. After infection with avian influenza virus, it can manifest as mild respiratory and digestive symptoms with a low mortality rate; or it can manifest as more severe systemic, hemorrhagic, and sepsis symptoms with a high mortality rate.
