Methylene Chloride, a colorless transparent liquid, has a pungent odor similar to ether. Insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol and ether. It is a nonflammable low boiling solvent and is often used to replace flammable petroleum ether, ether, etc. Dichloromethane has the advantages of strong solubility and low toxicity. It is widely used in the manufacture of safety film and polycarbonate, and the rest is used as paint solvent, metal degreaser, aerosol spray, polyurethane foaming agent, mold release agent, paint release agent, and also can be used to make decaffeinated coffee.
