Ergothioneine

Ergothioneine (also known as L-ergothioneine,EGT) is a naturally rare chiral amino acid-based strong antioxidant discovered in 1909, originally from ergot (the nucleus of the fungus Ergotaceae
and Ergotomyces minor), hence the name. It is an important physiologically active substance in the body, acting as an antioxidant, scavenging free radicals, preventing UV radiation damage,
regulating intracellular redox reactions, participating in intracellular energy regulation and as a cellular physiological protector.

Ergothioneine is a natural super antioxidant and a unique cellular physiological protector with special functions such as scavenging high levels of free radicals in the body, preventing UV radiation damage, whitening and anti-ageing. By adding L-ergothioneine to skin care products, it can significantly slow down skin ageing, lighten pigmentation, brighten skin and increase skin elasticity. Therefore, many high-end skin care products use L-ergothioneine as their important whitening and anti-ageing active ingredient.
