Preparation:
-Damalone is usually prepared by the spaced dimethylamine process or the acetoacetic acid process.
In the -spaced dimethylamine process, sodium methylsulfosulfate reacts with dimethylamine to produce dimethylimide sulfate, which then reacts with acetic anhydride to produce damalone.
In the -acetoacetic acid process, acetic acid and acetic anhydride are ketized with ethyl chloroacetate to produce damalone.
