Product Detail
FR-ML-01 High-LOI Nanostructured Layered Magnesium-Aluminum Flame Retardant
I. Introduction
FR-ML-01 is a magnesium-aluminum co-precipitated layered double hydroxide flame retardant. Through the co-precipitation process, a nanoscale synergistic effect is achieved between magnesium and aluminum, resulting in exceptional flame retardant performance that far surpasses that of traditional micron-scale physical blends.
Thanks to the optimized magnesium to aluminum ratio, well defined layered structure, and coating technology, this flame retardant demonstrates outstanding performance in low smoke flame retardant PVC composites. FR-ML-01 can fully replace conventional formulations based on ATO combined with aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide, significantly reducing smoke density and material costs while maintaining high flame retardancy.

III. Product Feature
1. High flame retardancy (LOI ≥ 30).
2. Significantly reduces smoke density.
3. Lowers overall material cost.Good compatibility: red phosphorus through the organic resin coating, from inorganic to organic, hydrophilic to hydrophobic, and better compatibility with nylon.
IV. Application
FR-ML-01 is suitable for the flame-retardant modification of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) materials, and is particularly suited for FRLS (Flame Retardant Low Smoke) PVC composites. It can directly replace traditional ATO + ATH/MDH formulations in the production of PVC products such as cable compounds, pipes, and profiles.
V. Comparative Testing of PVC Formulations
Based on the following PVC formulations:
1. 40 phr FR-ML-01 provides equivalent flame retardancy (LOI = 30%) to 5 phr ATO. However, the cost of 40 phr FR-ML-01 is only about 1/15 of that of 5 phr ATO, representing a significant cost advantage.
2. When using FR-ML-01, the LOI is higher compared to formulations using aluminum trihydrate (ATH).
3. The use of FR-ML-01 results in lower smoke density. FR-ML-01 also contributes to reduced smoke emission.
