Product Introduction
Clacoterone is a first-in-class local androgen receptor inhibitor that inhibits (DHT) -mediated lipid synthesis and inflammatory responses by competitively blocking androgen receptors in sebaceous gland cells and hair follicles. It is enzymatically hydrolyzed into the active metabolite cortexolone 17α-propionate in the skin. It has a strong local effect and a low systemic exposure level (<1%), with no systemic hormone side effects. After external application, it is mainly distributed in the hair follicle sebaceous gland units and is suitable for the treatment of acne. It is the first novel local acne drug with a new mechanism of action in 40 years.
