I. Product Overview

Ferrous-free Aluminum Sulfate is a high-purity inorganic chemical product with the core chemical formula Al₂(SO₄)₃·xH₂O (x is usually 18, i.e., ferrous-free aluminum sulfate octadecahydrate). Its molecular weight, calculated as the anhydrous substance, is 342.15, and its CAS number is 10043-01-3. Its core advantage lies in the extremely low content of iron impurities (≤0.005%). Compared with ordinary industrial aluminum sulfate, it effectively avoids color pollution and catalytic side effects caused by iron ions. It has the characteristics of high purity, good solubility, and stable performance, and is widely used in environmental protection, papermaking, daily chemicals, chemical synthesis and other fields. It is an inorganic aluminum salt product with both practicality and high applicability. The product is mostly white crystalline powder, granules or flakes in appearance, with no visible impurities. 2.1 Physical Features

Appearance and form: Mainly divided into three forms: white crystalline powder, granular, and flaky. It can be custom-ground into fine powder of 20-30 mesh according to customer needs. There are no visible impurities. Crystalline products have a pearlescent luster, with no visible black spots or agglomerates (except for special treatments).

Density: The solid density is approximately 1.69 g/cm³ (at 25℃), and the relative density of the liquid is 1.25–1.30 (at 20/4℃). The bulk density varies depending on the form: approximately 0.8-1.0 g/cm³ for powder, 1.0-1.2 g/cm³ for granular, and 1.1-1.3 g/cm³ for flaky.

Solubility: Easily soluble in water with a fast dissolution rate; insoluble in organic solvents such as alcohol and acetone. A 1% aqueous solution is acidic with a pH value ≥ 3.0. After dissolution, the solution is clear and transparent with no obvious precipitation.

Thermal stability: The dehydration temperature is 86.5℃ (losing part of the crystal water). It completely loses crystal water and becomes an anhydrous substance at 250℃, and decomposes into γ-Al₂O₃ at 860℃. It is stable in nature at room temperature and not easy to decompose.

Hygroscopicity: It is easy to absorb moisture and agglomerate in the air, so it needs to be stored in a sealed container and avoid long-term exposure to humid environments.

2.2 Chemical characteristics

Iron-free property: The core characteristic is extremely low iron content (≤0.005%), which is much lower than that of ordinary industrial aluminum sulfate (iron content ≤0.75%). It can effectively avoid problems such as product discoloration and contamination of application scenarios caused by iron ions, and is suitable for fields with high purity requirements.

Hydrolyzability: After dissolving in water, aluminum ions undergo a hydrolysis reaction to form polynuclear hydroxyl complexes, which have good flocculation and adsorption properties. It is a high-quality flocculant raw material in the water treatment field.

Stability: It is chemically stable under normal temperature and pressure, does not react with common acids, alkalis (except strong acids and alkalis), and salts. It is non-corrosive (the aqueous solution is weakly acidic and has slight corrosion on ordinary metals, so it needs to be stored in corrosion-resistant containers).

Safety: It is a non-hazardous chemical, non-toxic, but has slight irritation. Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes, and basic protection should be taken during operation.

3.1 Environmental Water Treatment Field (Core Use)

As a high-quality flocculant, the polynuclear hydroxyl complexes generated after iron-free aluminum sulfate dissolves in water can, through adsorption, bridging, and netting effects, cause suspended particles, colloidal substances, and organic pollutants in water to coagulate into large flocs, which are easy to remove by sedimentation or filtration. Moreover, it does not cause iron ion contamination, making it suitable for scenarios with high water quality requirements.

Drinking water purification: It can effectively remove turbidity, chromaticity, organic matter, and microorganisms from drinking water, improve the taste of water quality, avoid yellowing or browning of water caused by iron ions, ensure that drinking water is clear and transparent, and meet the drinking water hygiene standards.
Industrial wastewater treatment: Suitable for wastewater treatment in industries such as papermaking, printing and dyeing, electroplating, food, and chemical engineering. It can remove suspended solids, heavy metal ions (such as lead, cadmium, etc.) and some organic pollutants from wastewater, reduce the COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) of wastewater, and help enterprises meet environmental protection discharge standards;
