It is a 31-amino-acid polypeptide with the formula C₁₈₇H₂₉₁N₄₅O₅₉ and a molecular weight of 4113.64 Da. Structurally, it is a modified analog of human GLP-1 (94% homology): the 8th amino acid is replaced with Aib to resist DPP-4 degradation, and a C18 fatty diacid side chain at Lys26 enables strong albumin binding (>99%), prolonging its human half-life to ~165 hours. It selectively activates GLP-1 receptors, enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppressing glucagon release, slowing gastric emptying, and reducing appetite. It is metabolized via peptide cleavage and fatty acid β-oxidation.
