Assay (Content Analysis)

Method: Non-aqueous titration.

1. Procedure: Accurately weigh approximately 200 mg of the sample. Dissolve in 3 mL of formic acid and 50 mL of glacial acetic acid. Add 2 drops of crystal violet test solution (TS-74). Titrate with 0.1 mol/L perchloric acid to a blue-green endpoint. Perform a blank determination simultaneously and apply necessary corrections.

2. Calculation: Each mL of 0.1 mol/L perchloric acid is equivalent to 8.909 mg of DL-alanine (C₃H₇NO₂).
