Phthalic anhydride, commonly known as phthalic anhydride, is a bulk basic organic intermediate. Due to its high reactivity, it is used across multiple industrial sectors, with core consumption concentrated in the two major segments of plasticizers and coating resins, which account for more than 80 percent of total consumption. First, when esterified with butanol or octanol, it forms plasticizers such as DOP and DBP. When added to PVC, these plasticizers enhance the material’s flexibility, low-temperature resistance, and processability, making them suitable for the production of flexible plastic products such as wire insulation, synthetic leather, plastic films, automotive interiors, and plastic shoe soles. They are essential additives in plastic processing. Second, as monomers for dicarboxylic acids, they are used to synthesize alkyd resins and unsaturated polyester resins. Alkyd resins are used in furniture, building exteriors, and industrial metal coatings, offering strong adhesion and long-lasting gloss; unsaturated polyesters are used in fiberglass-reinforced plastics, anti-corrosion paints, and insulating coatings, and are widely applied in the shipbuilding and building materials sectors. Furthermore, it can be used to synthesize anthraquinone and phthalocyanine series organic dyes and pigments, which provide stable coloration and lightfastness; in small quantities, it serves as a pharmaceutical intermediate for the production of saccharin and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs); in rubber processing, it acts as an anti-scorch agent, delaying scorching during high-temperature vulcanization of rubber compounds and optimizing the molding process; it is also suitable for the production of certain agricultural additives and organic synthesis reagents. With a long downstream supply chain and stable market demand, it is an irreplaceable core raw material in chemical manufacturing.

The product strictly complies with the GB/T 2961-2014 national standard, accompanied by a complete set of MSDS, commodity inspection reports, and hazardous packaging certificates, and meets EU REACH import and export requirements. Standard packaging includes 200 kg galvanized closed-top steel drums and 1,000 L IBC containers. For large volumes, bulk transport via tank containers is available. Storing and transporting the product in a sealed, light-protected environment effectively delays oxidation and discoloration.
