Sodium hydroxide is an extremely versatile inorganic strong base used across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, food, household chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and reagents. In the industrial sector, it is used in the pulping process of paper manufacturing to decompose lignin and separate fibers; in the textile industry, it serves as a desizing agent and mercerizing treatment for cotton and linen fabrics, removing impurities and enhancing fabric luster; and in the metallurgical industry, it is used to purify bauxite and remove impurities from metal ores. In household cleaning products, it is used to manufacture soap, laundry detergent, and degreasers, efficiently breaking down animal and vegetable fats to facilitate the saponification reaction. Food-grade caustic soda is used in compliance with regulations for food processing, including peeling fruits and vegetables, refining edible oils, and adjusting the pH of flour-based products, with strict control over residue levels. In the pharmaceutical sector, it aids in the synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and the acid-base cleaning of pharmaceutical equipment; in the chemical reagent industry, it serves as a standard alkaline solution and a basic raw material for acid-base titration and neutralization reactions.
