ECHEMI 2020-04-20

Recently, the biotechnology company Pharmactive Biotech launched the ABG10 + extract of Chen black garlic, which was conducted by the Autonomous University of Madrid under the leadership of Dr. Sara Amor and was published in the Journal of Nutrition.

ABG10 + is the first batch of black garlic extracts using high-performance Liquid Chromatography technology containing standard high-concentration S-allylcysteine (SAC) and produced using the company's proprietary aging process.

In this 16-week study, rats in each group were fed standard diets or diets containing large amounts of fat and sucrose. Beginning at the eighth week, half of the rats in the high-fat diet ingested Pharmactive Chen Black Garlic Extract. It was found that compared with the untreated rats, the average calorie intake, body weight, triglycerides , Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) Cholesterol, INSULIN and leptin serum concentrations decreased, HLD cholesterol was higher. In addition, Chen Hei garlic extract reduced fat weight and reduced vasoconstriction caused by obesity in rats on high-fat diet.

The researchers said that further research is needed to assess the differences in the bioavailability of supplements between rats and humans.
