Clariant helped Qixiang Tengda propylene oxide project
Clariant announced that it will cooperate with Evonik and ThyssenKrupp Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. to jointly support Zibo Qixiang Tengda Chemical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Qixiang Tengda) to carry out large-scale propylene oxide projects.
It is reported that Qixiang Tengda is building a new propylene oxide plant in Zibo, Shandong Province to expand and build the tertiary carbon industry chain. The plant is designed to have an annual capacity of 300000 tons. It uses Evonik and ThyssenKrupp's HPPO process technology to directly convert propylene into propylene oxide using hydrogen peroxide.
In the refining process stage, Clariant's NiSat 310 catalyst can convert 95% or more of unreacted hydrogen peroxide into water, and convert aldehyde by-products into alcohol by-products through hydrogenation. NiSat 310 catalyst not only improves the purity of propylene oxide, but also extends the service life of HPPO catalyst supplied by Evonik for main oxidation reaction.
Yan Kunze, president of Clariant Catalyst Business Unit, said: "The combination of Evonik ThyssenKrupp's HPPO process technology and Clariant NiSat 310 catalyst is a more cost-effective solution, which realizes the production of high-purity propylene oxide and the minimization of waste. propylene oxide is one of the basic chemicals widely used in the world, and this cooperation reflects the role of sustainable development in promoting industry growth."
Qixiang Tengda said that its goal is to build an efficient propylene oxide plant and use sustainable process technology to achieve this goal. These two purposes can be realized through the technologies and products of Evonik, ThyssenKrupp and Clariant.
