Brazil publishes an officially registered broiler slaughterhouse inspection procedure based on a risk assessment

On December 30, 2022, Regulation SDA736, "Slaughter of Officially Registered Broiler Chickens Based on Risk Assessment", was published in the Official Gazette of Brazil Field Inspection Procedure". The main contents include terms and definitions, facilities and process requirements for officially registered broiler slaughterhouses, evaluation principles for live poultry, post-slaughter carcasses and internal organs, classification standards and inspection operation points, duties and requirements of slaughterhouse veterinarians, hygiene control of the slaughtering process, microbial sample sampling process and precautions, slaughterhouse self-monitoring requirements, penalties, etc. The regulation, which applies to slaughterhouses of chicken products for domestic consumption and export in Brazil, came into force on March 1, 2023.
